Explore one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, and get involved in the fascinating world of Port Wine. You will learn all about this region, and the historical characters that carved it into being the amazing place that you will get the chance to discover.
Starting at 09:00 AM, your private driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodation to take you on a fantastic day in the Douro Valley, a demarcated wine region since 1756 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. The landscape of the region is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, and for sure, it will impress you.
Our first stop will be in Amarante, a picturesque town on the banks of the Tamega River, related to São Gonçalo, the city's patron saint, known to be a matchmaker. Here you'll learn the legends and traditions, visit São Gonçalo Church, and also the history of the bridge over the river, which makes this place so special. You will also have some free time to explore the historical center or taste the local pastries.
Afterward, we'll proceed to the Douro Region, where we'll stop at one of the most beautiful viewpoints, where the landscape will take your breath away! Admire the slopes filled with rows of vines, creating a unique pattern. This is a great spot to take amazing pictures.
By now, it'll be time for lunch. We'll stop in a local restaurant, where you'll have the opportunity to try the traditional cuisine and experience the everyday life of the region, by having the opportunity to mingle with the locals.
In the afternoon, your driver-guide will take you to Pinhão, on the banks of the Douro River, where you'll enjoy one of the highlights of the day: a 1-hour panoramic river cruise. The views from the river are one of a kind!
End your exciting day with a visit to one of the best Wine Estates in the Douro Valley, withe you'll learn all about the making of this very special beverage: Port Wine. A visit to the region wouldn't be complete without a tasting of three excellent wines produced in the wine estate.
Afterward, we'll return to Porto and drop you off at your hotel.
